WHAT IS AT STAKE ?
If the entertainment legislation before the Board of Supervisors, City Operations and Neighborhood Services Committee goes through, neighborhoods citywide are potentially facing virtually unregulated nightlife until 6:00 a.m.
On April 27th SFPD Leaders testified, that they would not be able to police District 3, where 75 percent of the clubs are located, without pulling officers out of other districts and endangering the public safety citywide. A replay of the meeting can be found here. By attending the upcoming Board/committee meetings we will get the spotlight on the serious issues of clubbing and violence in our neighborhoods.
With your attendance, we can defeat this legislation and its potentially negative impact on our neighborhoods. And by speaking out, we can turn public attention towards the need of further controlling the decisions of the Entertainment Commission . This is probably one of the few times in San Francisco politics when your participation at only several meetings will dramatically change the outcome.
WHAT CAN YOU DO ?
Join your neighbors citywide, attend the meetings and tell your story! Critical Upcoming Meetings can be found here

Contact Mayor Gavin Newsom, CO-Sponsor of the Legislation
Mayor Gavin Newsom needs to be pulled into the dialogue now. Contact the Mayor's office and let him know that you disagree with his plans for our neighborhoods. He’s running for governor, based on padding his record as Mayor, as recently reported in the San Francisco Chronicle.Residents could take any number of approaches to engage the Mayor, including using honey. At minimum, as cosponsor of the legislation referenced, above, a) he should be asked to withdraw the legislation and b), as his job is defined by responsibility for law enforcement, he should be asked to empower the police to enforce all laws applicable to nightclubs and restaurants operating outside of their permit restrictions or negatively impacting the neighborhood in any way.

Inspector Dave Falzon (Vice Crimes officer, particularly concerned with entertainment and ABC licensing issues and violations in our district; might not be assigned to yours): dave.falzon@sfgov.org; 970-3057 (voice); 970-3088 (fax). If he’s not assigned to your district, ask him who is.
Justin Gebb (California Dept. of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Investigator for San Francisco, up-to-speed with Entertainment Commission and club issues we face): justin.gebb@abc.ca.gov; (510) 622-4969 (voice).
Based on our experience, these are respectful City and state agents who are very open to hearing from us residents and working to enforce local and state laws.
Contact the Police Stations in your Districts; let the Captains know about your concerns. Contact the permit officers in your districts as well and inquire about the permits and permit violations. Most importantly, let the SFPD know, that you support them. They have been placed into a very thankless position and are as interested as we are to have the current status quo resolved.District Station Captains
